An opportunity for you to be a trustee at Learning Links
Why be a trustee?
Through handling often demanding issues and circumstances, trustees gain unique insights into local communities and develop new skills. Trustee involvement by way of generating ideas and opportunities to advance the charity and raise funds to support it requires creative thinking and innovative problem-solving.
What is required from a trustee?
• To attend a minimum of 4 meetings per year at Learning Links head office (approx 2.5 to 3hrs in length) between the hours of 6pm and 9pm. (NB It is expected that there will be 6 Board Meetings per year.)
• Approximately 2 hrs per month reading.
• Both the chair and trustees would also be expected to attend ad hoc sub-groups and working parties.
• Attend and visit Projects/events.
• To support the CEO and Senior Management Team and to be an active member of the Board of Trustees to ensure that it fulfils its responsibility for the governance of the organisation
• To ensure that the charity is run properly, responsibly and lawfully in the interests of its members and in accordance within its constitution.
• To act as an Ambassador for Learning Links (Southern) Ltd within own networks.
The role of a charity trustee can seem daunting, but it can also be incredibly satisfying and highly rewarding.
An overview of the trustee role:
The role of trustee carries legal duties and responsibilities. It is a voluntary role, which should be undertaken because you are committed to furthering the purposes of Learning Links and have the skills, experience and personal qualities needed for the strategic management of our organisation.
The chair and trustees have overall governance across Learning Links. They control our affairs, funds, property and give ultimate direction to our activities. The day-to-day operations are conducted by Learning Links’ staff, volunteers and supporters under the delegated authority of the CEO.
