Stop Smoking
Over half of all the smokers in the UK want to quit, and the Health Trainers Service can help you if you want to change your smoking habits.
Health Trainers can help you if you want to change your smoking habits. We have close links to stop smoking groups and services in the city as well as a wealth of information on techniques and tips.
Emotional Wellbeing
It is important to make sure you are healthy emotionally as well as physically. Mental health can often be a bit of an embarrassing subject to think about but is something which a lot of people can have issues with at any time of their lives. Common problems such as feeling low or worrying about things can have a big impact on your health.
It can be quite difficult to seek help if you are feeling depressed or stressed but it can really make a difference to talk to someone. We can help you get in touch with services such as Talking Change, Portsmouth city’s leading talking therapies service.
Healthy Eating
Having a healthy diet is more than just eating salad or cutting out chocolate and crisps for good.
Our qualified Health Trainers can show that a little planning, moderation and a few simple changes can make a big difference and we can help you whether you are trying to lose or gain weight or even if you just want to change the things you eat and drink.
A Health Trainer can work with a client to produce an action plan based on a food diary and design small goals such as eating breakfast at least 3 times a week or eat 1 piece of fruit at lunchtime.
Sensible Drinking
Alcohol effects vary from person to person, and are different for men and women. The amount you drink how often you drink and how long you’ve been drinking all make a difference.
If you’d like to cut down on what you drink then Health Trainers can help.
As well as pointing you in the right direction of specialist help we can also give you all the information you need if you want to find out what alcohol can do and what to do if you think you’re drinking too much.
Get Active
Getting Active may sound like a difficult task but physical activity is really any activity you do that uses more energy than when you’re resting.
If you start walking or cycling any short distances that you’d usually use a car or a bus for you’ll notice a difference in no time, you’ll start to feel healthier. Any small changes can help; taking the stairs rather than a lift, gardening, even cleaning the house uses energy and counts towards increasing physical activity.
As well as making your body healthier, exercise can have an impact on your mind as well. Physical activity can relieve stress and make you feel better about yourself, it can make you sleep better and can help with depression.
